Goal Setting Session
In all of our work we have a client-centric approach, which means putting you at the centre of everything we do. Our initial meeting begins our relationship by helping you to establish your short, medium and long-term fitness ambitions. It’s a great way to set out your goals, and we’ll then develop regular and realistic milestones, enabling you to see where you are at any time on your fitness journey.
The initial meeting is at our expense, and it’s a risk-free way for you to see our place, meet us in person, and to put you in an informed position so that you can decide if you’d like us to work together.
If you do decide to take up Personal Training sessions, you’ll benefit from regular fitness assessments. This will help us to keep you on track, if necessary amending your training sessions to achieve the best results.
During our initial consultation, we can also consider your exercise experience and talk about your exercise preferences, including any exercises you don’t like. This will help us to put together a fun programme designed especially for you.
Regular Fitness Assessments
What will we measure?
- Posture
- Blood Pressure
- Resting heart rate
- Weight
- Muscle mass %
- Body fat %
- Body water %
- Visceral fat
- Bone mass
By taking these regular measurements, we can check and assess your progress and, if necessary, fine-tune your training programme to really optimise your results.
Our Qualified Approach – Meet the Trainers
One-to-one Personal Training
Liam has achieved his Level 3 Personal Training qualification with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). In his practice, he uses the Optimal Personal Training (OPT) model: this is an easy-to-follow approach for you and is carefully structured around a series of progressions. The OPT approach is scientifically proven to maximise results while minimising the risk of injury.
One-to-one Pilates
Fiona teaches a range of Fitness Pilates classes in our studio and she also offers one-to-one Pilates sessions. Fiona has achieved her Level 3 Diploma in Pilates Matwork with ActiveiQ, and she’s also gained qualifications in Fitness Pilates for Orthopaedic Conditions.
One-to-one Pilates will allow Fiona to tailor the session to meet your specific needs, whether you have a specific orthopaedic condition or want to focus on a particular area. Using a range of low-impact exercises for flexibility and strength, she’ll encourage correct postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance.
Process
Initial Consultation & Individual Goal Setting
1/ Personalised Programme
Using our expertise, we’ll design your personalised training programme; this will be best suited to helping you achieve your goals.
2/ Support, Coach and Motivate
We’ll guide you through your individual workout. We’ll coach, educate and support you, as well as providing you with the motivation you need in order to reach your potential and optimise your results.
3/ Amend your Programme
Your body will quickly adapt to the training challenges placed upon it, so it’s very important to regularly adjust your programme so that you remain challenged. This will also help you to stay engaged and stimulated by avoiding the boredom of routine.
4/ Review & Measure
Everyone has different starting points, aims and training requirements. We’ll ensure that regular reviews are carried out, so that you can measure your improvements and quantify your results, enabling you to gauge your progress against your exercise ambitions.
What to Expect in a Personal Training Session
We understand that many of our clients may feel intimated entering the ‘usual’ gym environment: it could be that you’re not sure how to use weights or what weight is realistic, or you might feel uncomfortable around more accomplished gym-goers. It could be that you’re just not getting the grunting weight-slamming vibe! Our one-to-one training sessions will take place uninterrupted at our private Skipton fitness centre. Here you can relax, and, with our help, work towards your fitness goals while really enjoying each individual session.
Some Personal Trainers cut corners or are working purely to maximise their profits. We don’t believe in the latest short-term fitness craze – we’re afraid there is no a magic formula! We’ll help you resist the latest fads and bandwagons, instead putting together a well-structured and carefully timetabled programme, centred around your unique individual needs. The programme will include a thorough warm up and cool down too, because your safety is always paramount to us.
Session time: 1 hour – Our sessions will follow a proven format:
- Stretches
- Warm up
- Movement preparation
- Main session (Resistance Training/Cardiovascular)
- Cool Down

Weight Loss – Our specialism
Weight loss is the area of training that we find is most in demand, and it’s also our area of particular expertise. We don’t subscribe to the latest fad diets as these plans typically promise unreasonably fast weight loss, often with little effort and usually without any scientific evidence. Many fad diets lack major nutrients too, including dietary fibre, vitamins, minerals and protective phytochemicals, which can lead to serious health problems.
Instead, using our knowledge as Certified Nutritional Advisers as well as exercise professionals, we can help you make healthier food choices. By combining healthy eating with an exercise plan, we’ll help you achieve a sensible and sustainable level of weight loss. In turn, this can help you have more energy as well as boosting your self-esteem.

To achieve this together we’ve created a culture that’s built on working hard, but which also comes with a healthy dose of fun, enjoyed in a safe and social environment too. Come and join us – we’re sure you’ll agree.
